Growing together.The Sr. Business Development Analyst/Communications Specialist serves as the expert on the State client’s member communications requirements. You will work as the liaison between the OptumRx operational staff / Marketing team and the State Staff to ensure we have a documented communication strategy and meet the client’s needs. You will be responsible for the oversight of all health benefit fair and member communication activity related to the client’s pharmacy benefit. You will interact with multiple internal departments to deliver best-in-class service to our client. As the Communications Specialist you will be engaged in discussions with the PBM account team, marketing team to ensure all the required benefit events and communications have been delivered. This position requires a high-performing individual with proven communication skills and a comprehensive understanding of pharmacy benefit design.If you are located in Eastern or Central Time Zones only due to frequent travel, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:
  • Understanding the primary business objectives of the client in order to communicate and assist marketing with communications that demonstrate program value to the client.
  • Support Marketing with ensuring open enrollment materials are completed on time
  • Responsible for the coordination of Health Benefit fairs
  • Collaborate with the Client regarding future plan design changes, including but not limited to, working with the Marketing Team to coordinating focus groups to gather information market strategies/trends, conducting buyer vs. non-buyer surveys. Work with the client to understand their needs with respect to benefit competitive analysis and lead completion of these activities.
  • Provide regular input to the Account Manager and operational areas regarding client benefit structure and requirements.
  • Assist with the development, review and approve all benefit related Customer Service documentation to ensure accuracy with the plan design and when necessary participate in client specific benefit design training with Call Center Staff.
  • Understands OptumRx product and service offering, and can articulate the operational, clinical and financial value of our programs to the client across multiple stakeholders with the goal of deploying new programs and services.
  • Maintains consistent and regular communication with the client. Respond to all electronic, phone, facsimile or letter inquiries from the client within 24 hours and 2 hours for emergency inquiries.
  • Participate and present formal presentations to stakeholders
  • Responds to all electronic, phone, facsimile or letter inquiries from the client’s staff within twenty-four hours of receipt or two hours for urgent inquiries.
  • Regularly attends and actively participates in company meetings as requested.
  • Exhibits compliant and ethical behavior in the performance of job responsibilities, including complying with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, OptumRx Code of Conduct, Business Ethics Policies and Procedures and other policies and procedures applicable to position.
  • Actively participates in OptumRx’s Compliance and Ethics Program, including attending annual compliance and ethics training and reporting suspected violations of the law or OptumRx’s policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet corporate objectives.

  • 2+ years of consultative pharmacy benefit experience with an understanding of pharmacy benefit strategies and pricing practices
  • 2+ years of experience presenting to large group settings
  • Experience developing communication materials such as PowerPoint decks, member communications, etc.
  • Experience solving practical issues and dealing with many variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Project management and organizational skills to coordinate client deliverables
  • Experience handling and resolving complex client issues
  • Experience developing client relationships with attention to service
  • Willing or ability to travel up to 50% of the time by car and airplane
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience interfacing with client account leadership at the C level in healthcare or managed care
  • Formulary knowledge
  • Proficient knowledge of Medicare Part D Employer Group Waiver Plans
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office Tools

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
