Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our team as a Prior Authorization Specialist. As a Remote Certified Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for reviewing prior authorizations for determination, approving or denying authorizations, and sending them to a pharmacist for final review. You will work with multiple health plans and various types of medications, utilizing your strong computer skills to enter member demographics and prescription information into our data processing system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review prior authorizations for determination, approving or denying authorizations based on established guidelines and protocols.
  • Enter member demographics and prescription information into our data processing system, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Research and resolve rejected insurance billing issues, escalating questions and concerns to a pharmacist as needed.
  • Assist with inbound and/or outbound patient or physician calls, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Process prescription exceptions, resolving claim rejects, and conducting member and physician outreach as required.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.

Requirements

  • Must be a nationally certified pharmacy technician (e.g., PTCB, NHA).
  • Registered pharmacy technician in the state where you reside.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong computer skills, with experience working with electronic health records and data processing systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a pharmacy or healthcare setting, preferably in a prior authorization or claims processing role.
  • Familiarity with healthcare insurance industry, including knowledge of health plans and medication management.
  • Experience working in a remote environment, with a strong understanding of remote work best practices and requirements.
