Labcorp, a leading healthcare company, is seeking an experienced and skilled Accounts Receivable Specialist - 3rd Party Denials to join our team of dedicated professionals. As a key member of our revenue cycle management team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our accounts receivable process, resolving claim issues, and maintaining effective relationships with internal staff, insurance carriers, and patients. This is a remote position, offering the freedom and flexibility to work from the comfort of your own home, with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:00 A.M.- 5:00 P.M. EST.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Accounts Receivable Specialist - 3rd Party Denials will work closely with our revenue cycle staff, sites, insurance carriers, and internal staff to support the overall revenue cycle process. Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Denial management to resolve claim issues and ensure timely payment
  • Resolving incoming inquiries from third-party payers, sites, and patients in a professional and courteous manner
  • Performing research and resolution for suspended and unbillable claims to minimize revenue loss
  • Working third-party aging reports to identify and address potential issues
  • Accurately posting insurance, patient, and site payments to ensure accurate financial records
  • Performing various collection activities by contacting patients, sites, and third-party payers to resolve outstanding balances
  • Processing remittance advice and explanation of benefits completely and accurately to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Preparing, reviewing, and sending patient statements in a timely and efficient manner
  • Conducting yourself in accordance with our company's employee guide and adhering to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations
  • Building effective working relationships with internal team members to ensure a collaborative and productive work environment

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2+ years of previous experience in accounts receivable, billing, healthcare, or office administration, with a strong preference for internal RCM candidates
  • Advanced skills in alphanumeric data entry, with a strong preference for candidates with CPT and ICD-10 knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to write clearly, concisely, and persuasively
  • A strong orientation to deadlines and detail, with the ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and congenially with employees at diverse levels, with a strong ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

While not essential, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable:

  • Experience working in a remote environment, with a strong ability to self-motivate and manage your time effectively
  • Advanced knowledge of revenue cycle management principles and practices
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and practice management systems (PMS)
  • Certification in medical billing and coding, such as CPC or CBCS

Remote Technical Requirements

To perform this role, you will need:

  • Internet speed of at least 50 megabytes per second
  • No satellite internet
  • Ability to connect equipment to router/modem with Ethernet cord (equipment cannot be connected through Wi-Fi)
