About the position
Responsibilities
• Deliver medications to designated areas under close supervision according to detailed instructions, policies, and procedures.
• Refill and maintain automated dispensing machines.
• Price manual medication orders, inventory, and reorder stock in the pharmacy.
• Enter data into a computer system and print labels as necessary.
• Review physician's orders and enter patient medication orders into the pharmacy order entry system.
• Identify problems with orders and notify pharmacist or nursing when orders need clarification or to request patient information.
• Accurately compound IV admixtures and other assigned preparations utilizing aseptic technique and proper pharmaceutical procedures.
• Maintain stock in all assigned areas including the IV room and other pharmacy areas.
• Perform related clerical duties including typing, answering phone, filing, and greeting nurses and physicians at the Pharmacy window.
• Ensure customer service and teamwork while conducting responsibilities.
Requirements
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by the Board of Pharmacy in the state of practice required.
• 1 year of hospital experience preferred.
• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
