Senior Gameplay Engineer (Remote) - $25/Hour
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Gameplay Engineer to join our team at Workwarp, a partner of Netflix. As a Senior Gameplay Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping the interactive memories of video games. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing various gameplay mechanics, systems, and features that contribute to the overall gameplay entertainment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with game designers and cross-functional teams to understand the game's vision, mechanics, and player experience goals.
- Design and implement gameplay systems, mechanics, and features that align with the game's design and technical constraints.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that adheres to industry standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve gameplay-related issues, bugs, and bottlenecks to ensure a smooth and engaging player experience.
- Optimize gameplay systems and mechanics for performance, responsiveness, and scalability across various platforms.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in game development to continuously enhance the high quality and innovation of gameplay features.
- Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring high code standards are upheld.
- Collaborate with artists and designers to integrate assets and implement interactive elements seamlessly.
- Contribute to the overall game development process, providing insights and ideas during brainstorming and planning sessions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in game development, with a focus on gameplay programming.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in game development, such as C++, C#, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of game mechanics, player engagement, and game design principles.
- Experience working with game engines like Unity, Unreal Engine, or proprietary engines.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
- Previous experience shipping one or more successful video games as a gameplay engineer is highly desirable.
- A passion for gaming and the ability to analyze and deconstruct various gameplay experiences.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in team-oriented environments.
- Familiarity with version control systems, continuous integration, and agile development methodologies.
