Credentialed Veterinary Technician (Regional Remote) - ASPCA Poison Control

As a Credentialed Veterinary Technician, you will be the first point of contact for pet owners seeking assistance with pets exposed to potentially dangerous substances. You will have the opportunity to work remotely, with a dynamic and supportive team, and contribute to the development of new findings and poison prevention strategies.
In this fast-paced and challenging role, you will utilize your toxicology knowledge and skills to manage medical cases, provide diagnostic and treatment recommendations, and document exposure circumstances in our electronic medical record system. You will also participate in training, professional development, and supportive activities to enhance your skills and knowledge, and contribute to the advancement of the ASPCA's mission to protect and improve the lives of animals.

Responsibilities:
- Manage medical cases initiated by telephone, email, and other electronic means, involving animals potentially exposed to deleterious agents or diseases
- Obtain complete case histories and provide detailed and accurate diagnostic and treatment recommendations
- Document exposures and risks, and relay detailed treatment recommendations per protocols and verbal instructions
- Utilize ASPCA/APC resources to manage cases and access protocols, policies, and procedures
- Maintain excellence in customer service and high medical record quality levels
Requirements:
- Veterinary Technician credentials (required) in the state of residence, i.e., CVT, LVT, RVT
- At least one year of experience as a credentialed veterinary technician
- Ability to act and react to emergency and/or challenging situations in a compassionate and consistent manner
- Ability to communicate effectively with concerned, emotional, and worried persons via telephone
- Strong interest in toxicology and experience in veterinary practice, poison control center, or university is beneficial
