About the Role & Team:
Disney Digital Entertainment, a division of Disney Experiences, is on a mission to create the 'digital front door' for The Walt Disney Company. We are building an expert development team to craft a revolutionary game experience that will showcase the magic of Disney to the world. As a Lead Environment Artist, you will be part of a dynamic team of game developers focused on creating individual experiences that come together to form a rich, cohesive, and quintessentially Disney product.
What You Will Do:
- Lead, manage, and grow a talented internal team of Environment Artists, fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration.
- Collaborate with artists, designers, and other disciplines to create captivating, inspiring, and immersive environments, spaces, props, and items based on Disney's vast portfolio of worlds and characters.
- Utilize industry-leading tools such as Maya, ZBrush, Substance, Photoshop, and Unreal Engine 5 to craft high-quality assets, materials, layouts, and lighting for architectural and organic environments.
- Iterate on game assets and environments through paint overs, studies, and group critiques to elevate visuals and gameplay.
- Work closely with producers and other Leads to coordinate team and project schedules, ensuring seamless execution and timely delivery.
- Champion and manage in-game environment performance, promoting best practices for asset creation, materials, lighting, and optimization.
- Serve as a key member of the game development team, helping to build and define the world of our project and drive its artistic vision.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- A portfolio that showcases your personal and team-based artistic achievements, demonstrating your creative vision and technical expertise.
- Strong leadership, artistic, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate and partner with cross-functional teams.
- Minimum of 7 years of PC and console game development experience, including at least 3 years as an Environment Artist and/or Lead.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current game development techniques, environmental visual design, and expertise in lighting, composition, staging, and architecture.
- Proven understanding of environment creation that supports level design and enhances gameplay, with the ability to craft unique new assets and creatively reuse existing libraries.
- Proficiency in texture and material creation using Substance Designer/Painter and Adobe Photoshop, as well as experience with Unreal Engine and/or UEFN.
Education:
- A Bachelor's degree in Art and/or Design or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- The hiring range for this remote position is $143,800 to $221,700 per year, with the base pay taking into account internal equity, geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package.
