Job Title: Subject Matter Expert (SME) – DB2 z/OS Support
Duration: 3+ Months
Location: Remote (EST Time Zone) – Travel required for the first week only; fully remote thereafter
Job Summary:
A leading organization is seeking an experienced DB2 z/OS Support SME to provide advanced-level support, upgrade planning, and system-level troubleshooting for DB2 on z/OS platforms. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring high performance, stability, and resilience of enterprise-level DB2 environments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, coordinate, and implement DB2 version upgrades for current and future releases
• Perform expert-level troubleshooting for DB2 and z/OS systems
• Tune DB2 performance, including buffer pools, storage optimization, and I/O times
• Manage software maintenance and upgrades, including CA tools
• Execute contingency recovery and system-level backup & recovery strategies
• Resolve and monitor system-level DB2 performance issues
• Provide technical assistance across various teams/agencies with DB2-related challenges
• Collaborate with IBM to open and resolve product support cases
• Act swiftly to resolve outages and minimize system downtime
Required Skills & Proficiencies:
• Extensive experience with DB2 and z/OS systems
• Proficiency in the following tools and environments:
• QMF (Versions 7–13)
• IBM DB2 Tools (up to V13.10)
• IBM Data Studio
• Platinum Tools / Omegamon for DB2
• CA Insight, Detector, and other CA DB2 Tools
• COBOL
Additional Notes:
• Candidate must be available to travel onsite for the first week of onboarding
• Work is conducted in the Eastern Time Zone
• Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential
