About the position


The qualified candidate will underwrite complex Non-Agency and Agency loans from our Correspondent Lenders in accordance with Chase, State, and Federal guidelines and restrictions. As an Underwriter III, you will possess a working knowledge of residential mortgage underwriting guidelines including both Agency and Non-Agency. The individual will be responsible for the analysis of ability to repay capacity, capital/assets, character, collateral, and property condition, while adhering to Chase credit policies and agency guidelines. Underwriters support and uphold fair lending practices of JPMorgan Chase and are responsible for productivity targets ensuring the highest quality and level of customer satisfaction. In this role, you will apply your knowledge of the Mortgage Process, GSE Underwriting Guidelines, and Chase Credit Underwriting guidelines. You will adhere to all Chase Fair Lending practices and demonstrate proficiency in AUS and manual underwriting processes. Your responsibilities will include reviewing all loan underwriting documentation to ensure compliance with state guidelines and Chase requirements, analyzing financial information including calculation of income, debt ratios, and verification of assets, and ensuring loan decisions meet all program and product specifications. You will also identify and address red flags found in the file documentation and communicate findings with clarity. Additionally, you will be expected to display Best in Class Customer Service as measured by customer surveys and feedback. Effective communication using strong verbal and written skills, as well as excellent teamwork with internal employees and external customers, will be crucial. You will demonstrate the ability to successfully function in a fully virtual workspace and achieve and exceed work goals for productivity, quality, and turnaround time. Passing all audits and exams and keeping up to date on all credit policy changes that impact underwriting will also be part of your responsibilities.

Requirements




  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a residential mortgage underwriter.
  • ,

  • Minimum of 3 years of Non-Agency underwriting experience.
  • ,

  • Proficiency with complex personal and business financial analysis.
  • ,

  • Strong financial analytics experience focusing on cash flow, balance sheets, and corporate tax returns.
  • ,

  • Demonstrated expertise of GSE lending guidelines.

  • Prior experience in manual underwriting.

  • Proven analytical and decision-making skills.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
