Job description: Job Description Summary As a Bill of Characteristics Lead Design Engineer, you are the voice of design engineering on the creation and incorporation of the Bill of Characteristics (BoC) with quality control plans to the shop floor. You will work in a cross functional team with the BoC team to issue BoCs via CID and implement them on the shop floor via completion of First Article Inspections (FAI). BoC will improve quality outcomes with reduced quality escapes across the Aerospace business. You will be responsible for providing design expertise and perspective while creating and incorporating a part specific (BoC).Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities
- Validating the BoC (Bill of Characteristics) and CNs (Characteristic Number’s) on the face of the drawing
- Escalating BoC conflicts to the BoC Leadership Team
- Initiating BoC CIDs and progressing them through the Change Assessment Process
- Upload of BoC to the design change system
- Obtaining Design Change Approvals and making any required updates based on approver feedback
- Supporting supplier and shop quality in BoC incorporation on the shop floor. This effort may include all or some of the following
- Creation of DFMEA/PFMEA
- Creation of control plans
- Incorporating Characteristic list into inspection planning
- Collecting Delta FAI data
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 3 years design/manufacturing/quality engineering experience
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- This is a Hybrid position and will be required to work onsite for 2-3 days/week
- Experience in first article inspection process (eCAV)
- Experience authoring or approving drawings and CIDs
- Experience working in FLIGHT DECK
- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems (EXCEL, LeanKit)
- Problem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker
- Fluent in engineering drawings and specifications, engine systems and configuration as well as shop practices
- Experienced with AS9100 and the GE Aerospace Quality System including supplier processes and procedures
- Strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborative
- Analytical-minded, challenges existing processes and creates new solutions, critical thinker
- Comfortable working across all levels of the organization
- Works collaboratively across organizations with an ability to influence others
- Proven analytical and organizational ability
- Demonstrated ability to create project plan strategy and execute to milestones
Expected salary: $98300 - 163500 per year
