Job description: The After-School Ed Tech is responsible for supporting students in an after-school learning environment, assisting with educational activities, and fostering a safe and engaging atmosphere. This position works closely with program staff to provide academic assistance, implement learning tools, and ensure student participation in enrichment activities. This is not a supervisory role.The Ed Tech in the LWAS Program will be responsible for assisting Teachers, Site Coordinators, and the Director with the implementation of a 4-days/week program focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) curriculum and enrichment activities (health/wellness, cultural, social-emotional learning). This part-time position is responsible for assisting in the delivery of engaging, academic, hands-on lessons and activities that will last through the school year.Outside of live program time, additional time may be allotted to attend key pre-program planning and staff meetings and to participate in lesson planning and professional development. This is a part-time, fixed term role to last through the length of the program.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Collaborate with a team to plan STEAM curriculum and enrichment activities linked to students' prior knowledge, interests, experiences, and in alignment with the 21st Century grant goals.
- Build positive relationships with students and actively support, model, encourage and inspire them in healthy lifestyle choices (personal, social and academic)
- Assist with establishing and enforcing consistent clear and positive expectations for in-person learning and behavior that is expected of students

- Participate in weekly team meetings to communicate program delivery, needs, reflection, and goals for improvement.
- Assists with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly environment , and ensure members are on task
- Monitor the LearningWorks email account and other communication platforms daily, and communicate and respond in a timely manner
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times, in accordance with program expectations, online safety, and remote and in-person learning guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Coordinator or Director.
- High School Diploma is required
- Maine Educational Technician certification or some college experience (preferred)
- Valid certification in First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) (preferred)
- Background check clearance required.
- Experience working with children in an educational or youth development setting.
- Familiarity with educational technology tools and platforms.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Experience working with elementary-aged youth preferred
- Enthusiasm for learning and a passion for inspiring the same in children
- Work with diverse communities and low-performing populations preferred. For certain sites, experience working with English Language Learners is a plus.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management and computer/technology skills
- Experience and demonstrated understanding of and ability to use various technology including but not limited to: Microsoft Outlook, Google Drive Suite, Zoom
- Flexibility, thoughtfulness, and the ability to creatively problem solve
- Growth mindset and a willingness to learn and apply innovative learning platforms and approaches
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team setting
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Routinely required to stand and walk
- Requires close visual acuity and the ability to adjust focus quickly
- Ability to work in a school or community-based setting with active student participation.
- Frequent standing, walking, and engaging with students.
- Occasional lifting of up to 15-35 pounds.
- Flexible scheduling, including late afternoon and early evening hours.
Expected salary: $18.9 - 18.91 per hour
