If you're someone with energy, drive, and creativity, AST might be the place for you.As a key member of our Go-to-Market team, the Proposal Manager (Commercial) provides leadership and support on a variety of business development assignments, including highly strategic proposals, qualification statements, budgetary estimates, RFP Responses, and customer presentations. The ideal candidate will be organized, accountable, and will demonstrate responsibility for establishing and ensuring all team members follow processes, meet deadlines, and follow through on commitments. The ideal candidate would be a self-starter who possesses excellent oral and written communication skills; develops creative solutions to tackle challenges; and has a vested interest in the success of AST. Each day we will present different activities and opportunities as you help position AST for success in our sales efforts.This is a remote and permanent/FTE role only, that can sit anywhere in the US or Canada. This role reports to the Director, Proposal Development and may have direct reports as team grows and is a visible role within the organization including exposure to the executive team.What You'll Do:
- Independently lead and/or support the coordination and preparation of proposals, qualification statements, budgetary estimates, RFP responses, and customer presentations for our Commercial Sector Sales team
- Directly support teams to refine and integrate opportunity strategy/win themes in proposal documents
- Participate in opportunity planning and capture activities
- Lead kick-off meetings, color reviews, and other milestone meetings, as appropriate
- Prepare and ensure compliant and timely proposal deliverables by managing self and proposal team, including monitoring progress, managing proposal process and schedule, and meeting client requirements, communicating issues/variances
- Understand business objectives, priorities, and sales strategy
- Understand company markets, partner/competitor/subconsultant firms, clients, and industry trends
- Coach, mentor, or provide oversight to junior staff members (currently 1 offshore presentation specialist with plans to expand)
- Lead and/or support planning and development of customer presentations
- Thoroughly understand and apply knowledge of AST brand identity standards, structure, organization, business approach, and sales process
- Serve as a subject matter expert on, advocate, and actively follow procedures, policies, protocols, and best practices, including standard file management and archiving procedures, as well as Branding Guidelines
- Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, communications or related field preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in proposal management
- Proven leadership, management, and organizational skills for directing, delegating, and overseeing go-to-market team members and their contributions
- Polished and persuasive written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting
- Proven ability to work successfully with others in multiple disciplines and in international locations/varied time zones
- Great interpersonal skills and an ability to develop, nurture, and maintain relationships at all levels of the company
- Self-motivation and a willingness to take the initiative to solve complex problems
- Ability to prioritize workload and balance multiple priorities
- Capability to negotiate with and influence others
- Commitment to success in support of the company's strategic goals and profitable growth
- Fluency in Microsoft Office and Adobe applications
- B2B Sales Proposal experience ideally with energy, manufacturing, oil and gas, consumer product goods, not-for-profits, and/or regulated markets (including government)
- Prior experience in the information technology industry
- 2 years of managing project teams, resources, and multiple resources
- Knowledge of Proposal Automation software and other content management tools
- APMP Membership and/or certification
