You’ll work cross-functionally with other engineering leaders and product teams to define roadmaps, guide architecture, and implement internal developer tools and systems. This role blends leadership, strategy, and occasional hands-on development to continuously improve scalability, observability, and the overall developer experience. You’ll play a key role in setting technical direction, mentoring engineers, and evolving engineering culture across the organization.Accountabilities:
- Define the roadmap, priorities, and execution plan for core services in collaboration with engineering and product stakeholders
- Develop and maintain architectural components such as internal SDKs, eventing systems, and backend patterns for performance and resiliency
- Enable faster and more autonomous feature delivery by refactoring and optimizing backend systems, and enforcing best practices
- Lead a distributed team with empathy and strategic vision, providing mentoring and growth opportunities
- Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to manage APIs handling billions of requests daily
- Foster engineering excellence by promoting responsible practices and improving system observability and developer workflows
- Participate in occasional on-call rotation and help ensure high system availability and reliability
- Proven experience in people management, with at least 5 years of technical leadership in engineering teams
- Background in building large-scale, distributed, and secure backend systems
- Hands-on knowledge of backend development, ideally in TypeScript/Node.js
- Familiarity with AWS services and architectural best practices for cloud scalability, performance, and security
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to gather feedback and align stakeholders
- Demonstrated customer empathy for both internal developers and end users
- Ability to guide technical decisions while empowering team members toward ownership and autonomy
- Remote-first work environment (US-based, with some state exclusions)
- Competitive salary range: $210,000 to $240,000 plus incentive, equity, and full benefits
