*Your home office must meet Safety, Privacy, and Internet Speed requirements set forth by Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital to be eligible for this positionJob Summary:The Infusion Financial Specialist assists patients with all financial concerns for patients, insurers, referring/attending physicians, care coordinators, pharmacy staff, and other stakeholders related to medications administered in the clinic/infusion center. They process all referrals, identify payer sources, verify benefit information, complete in-depth payor medical necessity review, and acquire initial authorization as needed to begin patient service or to determine denial of patient service. They will follow up on pending unresolved coverage issues and provider supporting documentation to assist with the appeal for claim denials. The position serves as an integral part of the patient care team while acting as a liaison between patients, care givers and support staff to deliver outstanding service and optimize patient flow.Here's what you'll do when you join us:

  • Verify insurance coverage, determine level of benefits, complete medical necessity review, obtain payer approvals for high-cost drug therapies prior to treatment, and solve problems with insurers.

  • Verify information on Physician's orders and reach out to provider and/or patient if there are discrepancies.

  • Coordinate with drug companies to qualify patients for drug assistance programs.

  • Provide financial support to patients and answer related questions to ensure the patient's understanding of their benefits.

  • Coordinate and assist patients with the Charity Care program and with setting up affordable payment plans.

  • Coordinate with clinical staff to identify patients for home and outpatient infusion therapy.

  • Maintain current knowledge of payer requirements and general admitting practices.

  • Communicate with patients and Grand Itasca staff to gather all needed information to complete daily duties.

  • Complete requirements for the provision of initial care and required insurance referrals for specialty care.

  • Perform other duties as directed.

If you have these qualifications, we'd love to chat: * Pharmacy Technician certification OR three years' recent Pharmacy Technician experience OR three of more years' clinical experience in an Oncology/Infusion setting.

  • Two years of medical and/or pharmacy authorization experience preferred.

  • Ability to interpret multiple comprehensive medical policies simultaneously to establish medical necessity of high-cost infusion medications with government and commercial payers.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of third-party payers, policies and regulations.

  • Excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, ability to problem solve, ability to follow policies and procedures, basic math skills, and great communication skills are all highly desired.

  • Basic computer knowledge with experience in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).

  • Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and maintain positive working relationships.

  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.

  • Demonstrate ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca's policies, vision, mission and values.
