Job description: JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSEDelta Utilities is seeking a Supervisor, Line Locating, who would be responsible for supervision and operational activities of Line Locators. Supervision of, but not limited to, consistent performance of job duties, safety procedures and consistent communications. Participate as an effective team member of the Damage Prevention Department that supports the company and corporate goals and objectives.ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Evaluates and monitors quality, quantity, and timeliness of output of the group's work.
- Interviews, selects, evaluates, resolves conflicts with employees assigned to him/her.
- Conducts performance evaluations, develops employees, administers constructive discipline, provides employee guidance, counsels and maintains proper documentation, as necessary.
- Monitors and identifies training and development needs for employees, while planning, budgeting and facilitating these needs.
- Plans, budgets, monitors, controls and reports on expenditures in area of responsibility.
- Communicates corporate and departmental goals, promotes and facilitates goal setting and monitors goal progress.
- Ensures that safety meetings are effective and held regularly, monitors safety performance of work group.
- Coach and develop team ensuring desired individual performance and safety performance to maintain a cohesive work environment.
- Maintains knowledge of and adherence to Company, safety and departmental policies.
- Must have excellent level knowledge related to line locating policy and procedures.
- Reviews and analyzes workflow processes/procedures to ensure efficiency, accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepares oral and written reports and presentations as required.
- Resolves customer and excavator complaints in a timely and constructive manner.
- Assesses utilization and cost effectiveness of inventory management practices and ensures adequate equipment inventory is maintained.
- Determines administrative needs and manages time administration functions.
- Audits employee's field work.
- Investigates and responds to various internal inquiries generated by claims, customer service, and regulatory complaints.
- Ensure quality of locates and quality levels for locates are met
- Ensures on time performance of locate requests
- Assist operations with high profile line, watch and protect functionality
- Assist operations with unlocatable lines and hard to locate lines
- Attend industry and state conferences for Damage Prevention
- Able to conduct formal presentations.
- Ability to analyze financial data and reports.
- Able to demonstrate strong personal effectiveness skills including integrity and trust, problem-solving, decision-making, organizational effectiveness and result orientation.
- Able to communicate advice, instructions, requirements, and reports on matters pertaining to performance improvement to operating management in a professional and courteous manner.

- Able to demonstrate knowledge of terms and conditions related to locate requests and compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Code, and other Company policies and procedures.

- Able to utilize personal computer software proficiently, SAP, electronic mail, spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software.
- Prepares and maintains user manuals and coordinates training to ensure proper Operator Qualifications and training.
- Able to make informed safety decisions, follow procedures and comply with policies based on knowledge of the work.
- Able to provide a valid state driver's license, present and maintain a good driving record and to operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
- Must have knowledge of safe work practices associated with locating and driving company vehicles.
- Ability to speak, read and write in English and perform basic mathematics (add, subtract, multiply, divide), interpret and communicate information regarding prints, maps, work orders, technical material, timelines, work management and budgets, etc.
- Demonstrates responsibility, attendance and dependability.
- Ability to represent the Company with best practices and make certain staff is accountable for set guidelines.
- Able to demonstrate proper techniques for operational and technical skills.
- Able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel and climb/descend stairs.
- Must be able to view a laptop or computer screen, sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Able to perform work in an office environment.
- Able to travel outside of primary work locations including out of town, occasionally overnight or longer, to field locations, remote areas, meetings or conferences.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with a high-volume workload and frequent short deadlines that may require more than a 40-hour work week to meet established deadlines, including working nights and/or weekends as required.
- Able to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone, mobile phone and other office equipment.
- Able to exert less than 20 pounds of force frequently and greater than 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Able to communicate clearly.
- Must respond to emergency call-out for storm restorations as needed.

- Job duties are performed in a normal and clean office environment with normal noise levels.
- Work is predominately done while standing or sitting.
- The ability to comprehend, document, calculate, visualize and analyze are required.
- Able to work daily in all types of weather conditions.
- Able to work regular hours, with occasional overtime.
- Able to handle emergency situations, including possible exposure to gaseous atmospheres on occasion.
- Able to work rotating shifts, if required.
- Able to respond to emergency calls and/or callouts and occasionally return to work while off duty.
- Able to perform work in an office environment.

- May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aide in restoration efforts.
- Able to wear and operate personal protective equipment, such as respirator, safety glasses, hardhat, gloves, protective footwear and earplugs daily.
- Able to be included in random drug screen pool required for DOT drivers and DOT safety sensitive positions.
- May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aide in restoration efforts
