Come be a part of the leading edge of IoT innovation!We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who enjoys contributing solutions in the Infrastructure and Observability space. Our team is responsible for setting and reviewing standards of infrastructure within SmartThings, as well as helping to improve how SmartThings development teams monitor and track their services.Key ResponsibilitiesThis position is a hybrid role, based onsite 3 days a week at our office in Minneapolis, MN.In this role, your primary responsibilities will include the following:
- Ensure SmartThings infrastructure is run in a secure and cost efficient manner, as well as being in compliance with multiple security requirements of the organization.
- Begin transitioning appropriate services from scripting languages to paved path services to align with company standards.
- Develop improvements to observability libraries used by developers within SmartThings.
- Design and implement improvements to the management of SmartThings infrastructure through both automation and reviewing existing Terraform code.
- Ensure observability vendors are used in a cost-efficient, and secure manner within the SmartThings ecosystem.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineer type role
- Experience with Java or Kotlin development
- Strong domain knowledge within AWS; focused on networking infrastructure (VPC, Transit Gateway, WAF, etc.)
- Solid knowledge of networking protocols and troubleshooting skills for networking issues
- Solid understanding of automating infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and experience with tools like Terraform or Cloud Formation
- Experience using Python or other scripting languages
- Customer-focused and interested in enabling SmartThings cloud platform.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment
- Understanding of DevSecOps best practices in regards to ensuring infrastructure is running securely
- Experience implementing operators for managing infrastructure
- Experience automating infrastructure using Kubernetes
- Knowledge of OPA policies and how they function with IaC
- Operating distributed systems at scale
- AWS related certifications

Expected salary: $115087 - 163912 per year
