We offer a comprehensive benefits program, including insurance and a competitive base salary.The MRO Team Lead for our Landing Gear business based in Freeport, Long Island, New York will be responsible for overseeing the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) activities related to landing gear, ensuring all operational processes adhere to safety, quality, and efficiency standards. The role involves leading a small team of technicians, engineers, and support staff, managing day-to-day operations, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations and best practices.Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Team Management:
  • Lead and manage a team of five skilled technicians involved in landing gear machinery MRO activities.
  • Ensure team productivity and morale through effective coaching, performance evaluations, and training initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and quality within the team.
  • Develop and implement shift schedules and resource allocation plans to ensure operational efficiency.
MRO Operations Management:
  • Oversee the MRO processes for landing gear systems, including inspections, repairs, overhauls, and modifications.
  • Coordinate with engineering, quality control, and production teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of MRO tasks.
  • Ensure all landing gear machinery meets industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prioritize and manage maintenance work orders, ensuring critical tasks are addressed promptly.
Compliance & Quality Control:
  • Ensure adherence to relevant aviation industry standards and regulations (e.g., FAA or other applicable governing bodies).
  • Implement and enforce strict quality control measures to guarantee the integrity and safety of landing gear machinery.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all MRO activities, including inspection reports, maintenance logs, and compliance records.
Resource Management & Inventory Control:
  • Oversee the procurement and inventory management of parts and components required for MRO activities.
  • Ensure that tools, equipment, and machinery are properly maintained and calibrated to meet operational needs.
  • Manage budgetary constraints and optimize the use of resources without compromising quality or safety.
Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization:
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of MRO operations.
  • Regularly review workflows, recommend changes, and introduce new technologies or methodologies that improve overall performance.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the performance of MRO activities and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Safety & Risk Management:
  • Ensure all operations are carried out in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety training and audits to minimize risks and prevent accidents.
  • Lead investigations into incidents or discrepancies and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, aerospace, mechanical, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience in landing gear maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations (preferably 5+ years), with some experience in business development, sales, and contracts.
  • Proven leadership experience in an MRO environment, with the ability to manage and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Extensive knowledge interpreting CMMs, Blueprints and repair documents
  • Working knowledge of mechanical inspection methods and equipment.
  • Experience with AS9100 standard.
  • Strong knowledge of aviation industry regulations and standards (i.e., FAA).
  • Experience in managing MRO operations, resource planning, and budgeting.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with MRO management software and maintenance tracking systems.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role within an aerospace or aviation MRO environment.
Physical Requirements:Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.Must be able to operate machinery and tools associated with landing gear MRO.Working Conditions:Full-time position with potential overtime depending on operational requirements.Work may involve exposure to hazardous materials, noise, and other physical demands typical of a manufacturing or repair environment.We are an equal opportunity employer committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
