This full-time position involves working in a specialized Emotional-Sensory-Communication (ESC) classroom with Kindergarten and 1st-grade students. The students have the cognitive ability to succeed academically but require support in staying on task and developing social-emotional skills. You will collaborate with a paraprofessional, behavior consultants, occupational therapists, and other specialists who provide push-in support throughout the week. Key Responsibilities: • Lead a self-contained classroom with 10 students, providing individualized instruction to support academic and social-emotional development. • Implement and adapt lesson plans that align with each student's academic abilities and emotional-sensory needs. • Collaborate with a paraprofessional, behavior consultants, occupational therapists, and other specialists who provide additional classroom support. • Monitor and track student progress, adjusting strategies as needed to help students meet their IEP goals. • Create a structured and supportive learning environment that helps students develop both academically and socially. Qualifications: • Licensure: Must hold a valid Special Education Teaching License in the state of Indiana. • Experience working with students on the autism spectrum, particularly in an ESC or similar program, is preferred. • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with paraprofessionals and support staff. • A passion for helping students overcome challenges and achieve academic and social-emotional success.
