Positions are part-time, temporary, non-tenure, and contingent upon course offerings, sufficient student enrollment, position clearance, and availability of funds. Duties and Responsibilities Under general supervision, design, deliver, and assess instruction in terms of student learning outcomes; teach assigned courses in the undergraduate and/or graduate nursing program in specific fields which includes but not limited to medical-surgical/acute care, maternal and child health, women's health, adult health, and/or community/ambulatory settings; develop and/or update course content and materials; use teaching strategies to meet the college's diverse students learning needs; submit annual self-assessment; mentor and assist students; complete grades on a timely basis; attend faculty meetings and other duties that the supervisor assigns.
Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of three (3) years of full-time nursing experience in the area of teaching responsibility.
[For teaching BS Programs] If a bachelor's degree in nursing is the highest degree obtained from an accredited college or university, at least three (3) years of nursing experience in their area(s) of teaching responsibility. [Hawaii Administrative Rules, Ch 16-89]
Current unrestricted RN License to practice in Hawai’i (APRN License is required for position(s) supervising nurse practitioner students);
Engaged in professional practice on a unit with a similar patient population and level of patient acuity to the unit where they will be assigned for the purpose of supervising nursing students;
Demonstrated ability to teach effectively and to direct group discussion;
Demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision to nursing students.
Desirable Qualifications Previous experience with higher education nursing curriculum.
Previous teaching experience with undergraduate and/or graduate nursing students including didactic and clinical courses.
