Legal Research Paralegal — Judicial Writing, Factual Verification & Law Integration
Seeking an experienced legal research paralegal to complete, verify expand an existing 13-page judicial-style report section addressing securities disclosure, governance conflicts, and fiduciary duty in a California public-finance context.
The assignment requires forensic factual research, exhibit cross-referencing, and law-fact integration written in the precise tone of a court opinion (within larger report).
Responsibilities
• Check verify all citations, pin cites, caselaw, statutes.
• Verify and fact-check all assertions using board records, EMMA filings, and public data.
• Cross-reference exhibits and compile an Evidence Verification Table linking every factual statement to a supporting source.
• Integrate binding precedent and statutory authority directly into findings — no paraphrase or commentary.
• Maintain judicial tone: conclusion-first, declarative, and evidentiary (“The record establishes …”).
• Shepardize/KeyCite authorities using Lexis+ or Westlaw.
• Deliver both clean and redlined Word drafts with full-form California-style footnotes.
• Conclude with a concise Legal-Exposure Summary outlining applicable statutory and regulatory consequences.
Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years in legal-research, appellate, or administrative-law writing.
• Demonstrated ability to write in a judicial or opinion voice integrating law and fact.
• Advanced skill in Lexis+ / Westlaw legal verification.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word (Track Changes, footnotes, formatting).
• Experience managing exhibit-based factual records.
• J.D. or paralegal certification required.
Deliverables
• Verified, rewritten 13-page report section.
• Exhibit/citation index and evidence table.
• Additional existing legal notes, factual research and case law to follow provided.
Engagement Terms
• Remote (U.S.)
• Approx. 20–25 hours over 7–10 days
• $30/hour (DOE)
