Job Description
Security Alliance is seeking an experienced and motivated industrial ARFF (Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter) firefighter to join our team in Wichita, Kansas. The firefighter will perform general firefighting duties and work in the protection of life and property by combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires. The firefighter shall also ensure the safe transportation of firefighters, apparatus, and equipment to and from the scene of an emergency or other call for service when assigned to operate such equipment. An employee in this position performs specialized firefighting duties under emergency conditions, frequently involving considerable physical danger.
Work is performed under the direct supervision of superior officers, but it requires a thorough understanding of individual firefighting methods, including laying hose, pump hookup, pump operation, developing fire streams, and detecting pump malfunctions. The employee is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of fire equipment, apparatus, and quarters, as well as ensuring the apparatus and equipment carried on the apparatus are maintained in a ready condition at all times.
Description of Operations:
Emergency/non-emergency
- Capable of applying Standard ARFF firefighting techniques for the protection of personnel and other occupants during aircraft in-flight/ground emergencies
- Promptly stand by during ground runs, first flight, and customer flight at the facility
- Able to adjust and provide assistance to the needs of the facility, being prepared at all times to respond to aircraft, structural, and medical emergencies.
Knowledge Associated with the Position
- Maintain knowledge of facility procedures of the ARFF crew operational procedures during Alert 1, 2, and 3 statuses.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the types of aircraft at the facility location and their emergency procedures and danger zones.
- Understand fire codes related to fire protection and prevention inspections as outlined by the customer, insurance company, and AHJ.
Apparatus and Equipment
- Basic knowledge of ARFF/Structural apparatus, foam systems, dry chemicals systems, and basic firefighting tools and equipment
- Perform daily and weekly maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements for ARFF apparatus, equipment, and PPE, along with proper documentation.
Minimum Required Certifications and Qualifications: (Must have before applying)
- Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Certified Firefighter 1 & 2 (IFSAC or ProBoard)
- Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (State or National Registry)
- HazMat Awareness & Operations (IFSAC or ProBoard)
- Incident Command System NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800
- Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) (IFSAC or ProBoard). Can be obtained within 6 months
Work Schedule
- Flexible hours required 40 hours a week (full-time)
- Some nights
