GIS specialist needed to create city GeoJSON files
### Project Overview
I'm building a **Real Estate ROI Explorer**, a web app that visualizes investment data (rental yields, property prices, ROI, etc.) across different neighborhoods and districts in major cities. The app uses **GeoJSON files** to render city and neighborhood boundaries on an interactive map, check it out: https://roiexplorer.com
### Task
I need help **finding, cleaning, or generating GeoJSON files** for various cities — especially cities where open data is hard to find. In some cases, existing datasets may need:
• Standardization (naming conventions, coordinate formats, etc.)
• Subdivision (e.g., splitting city GeoJSONs into districts or neighborhoods)
• Conversion from shapefiles, KML, or CSV boundary data to GeoJSON
### Responsibilities
• Research and locate high-quality GeoJSON or shapefile data for specific cities (mainly in Europe).
• Convert or clean data into standardized GeoJSON format compatible with Leaflet / Mapbox.
• Ensure the GeoJSON polygons accurately match real-world neighborhood or district boundaries.
• (Optional) Simplify geometry to optimize map performance.
### Deliverables
• A folder containing one standardized GeoJSON file per city.
• Each file should include:
• Neighborhood or district boundaries
• A consistent `neighborhood_name` or `district_name` property
• Valid coordinate reference (WGS84 / EPSG:4326)
• Documentation on data sources used.
### Example Cities
• Barcelona
• Madrid
• New York
• Lisbon
### Requirements
• Experience with **GIS tools** (QGIS, GDAL, Mapshaper, etc.)
• Knowledge of **GeoJSON**, shapefiles, coordinate systems, and projection handling.
• Ability to verify data accuracy and consistency.
• (Bonus) Familiarity with **open data portals** or APIs (e.g., OpenStreetMap, city open data sites).
### Budget
Open to proposals — please specify your rate and estimated time per city.
### How to Apply
Please share:
1. Examples of GeoJSON or mapping projects you’ve worked on.
2. Your preferred tools for processing geospatial data.
3. Estimated cost per city (or per file).
Would you like me to tailor this for **a fixed-price posting** (e.g. "$X per city") or **hourly**, so I can adjust the tone and deliverable expectations accordingly?
