Remote Seasonal Christmas Support Team – Stock & Delivery Specialist for Luton Retail Park (Part‑Time, 9.5 hrs/week) – Flexible Temp Role

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2025-11-03

About the Company & the Festive Retail Landscape

Every year, the UK retail sector transforms into a bustling, vibrant marketplace as families, friends, and shoppers come together to celebrate the holiday season. At Next, a leading fashion and home‑goods retailer, we pride ourselves on delivering unforgettable shopping experiences that combine style, affordability, and exceptional service. Our Luton Retail Park store is a cornerstone of the community, attracting thousands of visitors during the critical pre‑Christmas period and the post‑holiday “End of Season” sales.

We recognise that behind every perfectly displayed product, every on‑time delivery, and every satisfied customer lies a dedicated team of behind‑the‑scenes heroes. These are the people who receive, sort, and organise stock, ensuring the shelves are replenished quickly and accurately. This seasonal surge creates a unique, high‑energy environment where teamwork, agility, and attention to detail are not just valued—they are essential.

As we prepare for the busiest time of the year, we are seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and motivated individuals to join our Christmas Support Team – Delivery on a part‑time, remote‑flexible basis. If you thrive in fast‑paced settings, love working with tangible products, and want to be part of a celebrated brand’s holiday success story, this role is built for you.

Why This Role Stands Out

Unlike many seasonal positions that are purely temporary, this role offers a blend of remote flexibility and on‑site engagement at our Luton Retail Park. You will be directly involved in the heart of the supply chain, experiencing the full cycle of stock handling—from receipt to customer‑facing display. The position is carefully crafted to provide:

  • Clear, scheduled shifts (Monday and Tuesday, 09:00‑14:00) that fit around other commitments.
  • Opportunities to work on high‑visibility days such as Christmas Eve, the first day of the End‑of‑Season Sale (Friday 27 December 2024), and potentially Saturday 28 December 2024.
  • A supportive team environment that values each member’s contribution and encourages personal development.

In addition, you will gain exposure to retail‑specific technology (scanning systems, inventory software, and online fulfillment tools) and develop a skill set that is highly transferable across the wider retail and logistics sectors.

Key Responsibilities – What Your Day Will Look Like

Core Stock & Delivery Functions

  • Receive and Process Incoming Stock: Efficiently unload deliveries, scan each item into our inventory system, and verify quantities against purchase orders.
  • Unpack, Sort, and Prepare Merchandise: Carefully unpack garments and home goods, ensure packaging integrity, and sort items by size, colour, or category for rapid floor placement.
  • Hang, Size‑Cube, and Stock Shelves: Utilize fixtures and visual‑merchandising guidelines to display products beautifully, maintaining brand standards and maximizing floor space.
  • Order Picking & Packing for In‑Store Pickup: Locate items requested by customers, pack them securely, and transfer them to the designated pick‑up area within tight timeframes.
  • Maintain Clean and Organized Back‑of‑House Areas: Keep stockrooms, receiving docks, and workstations tidy, safe, and well‑structured to facilitate swift workflow.

Customer‑Facing & Cross‑Functional Duties

  • Assist on the Sales Floor When Needed: Offer fast, friendly service to shoppers, answer product queries, and help with quick‑turnover displays during peak periods.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues and Management: Communicate any stock discrepancies, equipment issues, or safety concerns promptly to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support Seasonal Promotions: Help set up festive displays, signage, and promotional fixtures that capture the holiday spirit and drive sales.
  • Self‑Directed Development: Identify personal performance goals, seek feedback, and pursue training modules offered by Next to continuously improve your skill set.

Essential Qualifications – What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum school leaving age (or equivalent) with a proven ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic in English.
  • Demonstrated experience in a retail, warehouse, or logistics environment, preferably within a fast‑moving, seasonal context.
  • Strong communication skills—clear, courteous, and able to interact effectively with customers, teammates, and supervisors.
  • Physical capability to lift and move items up to 25 kg, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks safely.
  • Reliable internet connection and a suitable remote work environment for the scheduled office‑based shift coordination (e.g., attendance tracking, electronic communication).
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom, with the ability to provide proof of eligibility prior to start date.

Preferred (But Not Mandatory) Qualifications

  • Previous experience with retail inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle Retail, or Next’s proprietary platform).
  • Certification or training in health & safety, manual handling, or fire safety.
  • Availability to work additional holiday shifts, including evenings, weekends, or early mornings, should demand increase.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in shifting between stockroom duties and floor assistance without loss of efficiency.

Skills & Competencies for Success

  • Attention to Detail: Accurate scanning and placement of merchandise reduces errors and enhances the shopper experience.
  • Time Management: Meet tight deadlines for stock replenishment and order fulfilment, especially during high‑traffic periods.
  • Team Orientation: Thrive in collaborative environments where information sharing and mutual support are key.
  • Adaptability: Quickly adjust to changing priorities, such as an influx of holiday orders or unexpected stock shortages.
  • Customer‑Centric Mindset: Treat every interaction as an opportunity to reinforce Next’s reputation for friendly, reliable service.
  • Problem‑Solving: Identify and resolve minor logistics challenges (e.g., misplaced inventory, packing discrepancies) autonomously.

Career Growth, Learning & Development

Next is committed to nurturing talent at all levels of the organisation. While this position is seasonal, it serves as a gateway to a range of longer‑term opportunities within retail operations, supply chain management, and store leadership. Employees who consistently demonstrate strong performance may be considered for:

  • Permanent part‑time or full‑time roles in store logistics or visual merchandising.
  • Fast‑track programmes leading to supervisory or managerial positions.
  • Cross‑departmental training in merchandising, e‑commerce fulfilment, or customer experience design.
  • Access to Next’s internal learning portal, featuring courses on health & safety, retail technology, and leadership development.

Furthermore, seasonal staff often receive a performance‑based bonus and are given priority for future seasonal hiring cycles, ensuring that high‑performing team members stay connected to the brand’s success story year after year.

Work Environment & Culture

Our Luton Retail Park store blends the excitement of a large‑scale retail destination with a close‑knit team atmosphere. You will find:

  • A supportive leadership team: Managers who are approachable, responsive, and dedicated to removing obstacles so you can focus on delivering results.
  • Inclusive culture: A workplace that celebrates diversity, encourages open dialogue, and values each individual’s unique perspective.
  • Safety first: Comprehensive health and safety protocols, regular briefings, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, hazard‑free environment.
  • Technology‑enabled workflow: State‑of‑the‑art scanning devices, handheld inventory tools, and real‑time data dashboards that help you stay informed and efficient.
  • Community spirit: Seasonal events, team celebrations, and a shared sense of purpose that makes the busy holiday rush feel rewarding rather than stressful.

Compensation, Perks & Benefits (General Overview)

While the exact hourly rate will be discussed during the interview process, successful candidates can expect a competitive salary that aligns with industry standards for seasonal retail roles. Additional benefits include:

  • Employee discount: Up to 30 % off Next merchandise, both in‑store and online.
  • Flexible scheduling: Pre‑determined shift patterns that accommodate other commitments, with the possibility of additional hours during peak periods.
  • Travel assistance: Reimbursement for public transport or mileage for those travelling to the Luton site.
  • Health & wellbeing support: Access to an employee assistance programme, mental‑health resources, and on‑site ergonomic guidance.
  • Seasonal bonus potential: Performance‑linked incentives based on meeting key delivery and customer‑service metrics.
  • Opportunities for future employment: High‑performing seasonal staff are often offered permanent positions post‑holiday season.

The Application Process – What to Expect

To ensure a fair and efficient hiring journey, we have a straightforward two‑step assessment:

  1. Online Assessment: Complete a Working with Numbers test and a Retail Scenarios questionnaire. This evaluates your numerical aptitude and decision‑making in real‑world retail situations.
  2. Interview Stage: Candidates who meet the assessment criteria will be invited to a brief virtual or in‑person interview with our recruitment team. This conversation focuses on your experience, availability, and alignment with our festive team goals.

Important: Applicants who have taken the online assessment within the past six months without success are ineligible to re‑apply until the assessment window reopens.
