Job Overview and Responsibilities

We're seeking an experienced Remote Full Stack Developer to join our Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) organization. As a Senior Developer, you'll play a key role in creating marketplace demand and driving commerce for American Express through differentiated and innovative products, partnerships, marketing, and customer experiences. You'll be part of our OnBrand Production team, which is American Express's In-House Creative agency, and will be responsible for executing development for a range of multiple parallel project engagements.

  • Write high-quality code for digital platforms using HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Produce, maintain, and modify digital experiences and user interfaces
  • Partner with the UX/UI, copy, and design teams to develop the overall look and design of digital experiences
  • Ensure that best practices regarding accessibility, responsiveness, performance, and ease of use are included early on in project ideation
  • Develop an overall development approach and guide other developers through execution to delivery
  • Provide proactive coaching, feedback, and oversight for developers on project-based work
  • Ensure all digital experiences align to industry standards and best practices
  • Partner with the QA team to troubleshoot and resolve defects, identify patterns, and use learnings to optimize overall development processes

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you'll need to have a strong and diverse skillset in relevant areas, including:

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Experience with digital platforms and user interface development
  • Strong understanding of accessibility, responsiveness, performance, and ease of use principles
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

While not required, the following qualifications and skills are preferred:

  • Experience with front-end build tools such as Webpack and Gulp
  • Knowledge of modern front-end frameworks such as React and Angular
  • Familiarity with back-end technologies such as Node.js and Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with database management systems such as MySQL and MongoDB
  • Strong understanding of security principles and best practices
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms such as AWS and Azure
