Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Virtual School Psychologist to join our team. As a Virtual School Psychologist, you will play a vital role in providing essential mental health and educational support services to students in South Carolina. Responsibilities

  • Conduct Virtual Psychological Assessments: Conduct comprehensive virtual psychological assessments to evaluate students' cognitive, academic, emotional, and behavioral well-being. This will involve using virtual assessment tools and teletherapy platforms to gather information and develop a deep understanding of each student's needs.
  • Collaborate with Educators and Families: Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and tailored intervention plans for students with special needs. This will involve working closely with stakeholders to identify goals, develop strategies, and monitor progress.
  • Provide Virtual Counseling and Therapeutic Interventions: Provide virtual counseling and therapeutic interventions to address students' social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. This will involve using evidence-based practices and tailoring interventions to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Offer Virtual Crisis Intervention and Support Services: Offer virtual crisis intervention and support services to students experiencing emotional distress or behavioral crises. This will involve providing immediate support, developing crisis plans, and collaborating with other professionals to ensure student safety and well-being.
  • Participate in Virtual Multidisciplinary Team Meetings: Participate in virtual multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss students' progress, challenges, and effective intervention strategies. This will involve working collaboratively with other professionals to develop and implement comprehensive support plans.
  • Provide Virtual Consultation and Support: Provide virtual consultation and support to teachers and staff regarding behavioral management, classroom accommodations, and mental health needs of students. This will involve sharing expertise, providing guidance, and collaborating with educators to create inclusive and supportive learning environments.
  • Maintain Accurate and Confidential Records: Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments, interventions, and communications with students, parents, and staff. This will involve using secure virtual platforms and adhering to relevant laws and regulations governing student confidentiality.
  • Stay Informed about Relevant Laws and Regulations: Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in the field of school psychology and virtual service delivery. This will involve engaging in ongoing professional development, attending conferences, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Collaborate with Community Resources: Collaborate with community mental health agencies, social services, and other external resources to support students' mental health and overall well-being. This will involve developing partnerships, sharing expertise, and coordinating services to meet the needs of students and families.
  • Engage in Ongoing Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in virtual service delivery, cultural competence, and evidence-based practices. This will involve attending workshops, conferences, and training sessions, as well as participating in peer mentoring and coaching programs.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications:

  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in School Psychology: A Master's or doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited institution is required. A strong academic background in school psychology, education, or a related field is essential.
  • Valid Certification or Licensure: Valid certification or licensure as a School Psychologist in South Carolina is required. A strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations governing special education services and student confidentiality is essential.
  • Prior Experience: Prior experience working as a School Psychologist in a K-12 educational setting is preferred. A strong understanding of virtual service delivery, cultural competence, and evidence-based practices is essential.
  • Proficiency in Virtual Tools: Proficiency in virtual assessment tools, teletherapy platforms, and other necessary technologies for remote service delivery is required. A strong understanding of virtual platforms and tools is essential.
