Role Overview

As an English Faculty Instructor at Amarillo College, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the minds of our students and helping them achieve academic excellence. Your teaching responsibilities will include delivering high-quality instruction in English, literature, and writing, as well as mentoring and advising students to ensure their academic and personal success. Key Responsibilities:

• Teach a range of English courses, including literature and writing, to students of varying skill levels and backgrounds

• Maintain accurate records, including class schedules, grades, and attendance, to ensure efficient administration and communication

• Develop curriculum, prepare syllabi, and assess student growth and progress to ensure students are well-prepared for their chosen careers

Essential Qualifications:

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you will need to possess a Master's Degree in English or a Master's Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in a qualifying field, such as Creative Writing, English Grammar, Linguistics, Classics, Technical Writing, Applied Linguistics, Literature, Rhetoric and Composition, Comparative Literature, or Technical Communication. A Ph.D. in English or a qualifying field is preferred, and previous post-secondary teaching experience is highly desirable.

• Ph.D. in English or a qualifying field
• Previous post-secondary teaching experience
• Experience with curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment
• Knowledge of learner-centered and high-impact instructional methods
• Skills in computer operation, multimedia classroom instructional software, and a willingness to learn new technologies
