Role Overview
As an English Faculty Instructor at Amarillo College, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the minds of our students and helping them achieve academic excellence. Your teaching responsibilities will include delivering high-quality instruction in English, literature, and writing, as well as mentoring and advising students to ensure their academic and personal success. You will be responsible for evaluating and grading student work, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records. Key Responsibilities:
- Teach a range of English courses, including literature and writing, to students of varying skill levels and backgrounds
- Mentor and advise students to help them succeed academically and personally, providing guidance and support as needed
- Evaluate and grade student work, providing constructive, specific, and timely feedback to promote learning and improvement
- Maintain accurate records, including class schedules, grades, and attendance, to ensure efficient administration and communication
- Plan, develop, and present organized classroom and online instruction, aligning course content with approved course outlines and learning outcomes
- Develop curriculum, prepare syllabi, and assess student growth and progress to ensure students are well-prepared for their chosen careers
- Participate in faculty development programs, recruitment activities, and other college events to contribute to the growth and success of the institution
Essential Qualifications:
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you will need to possess a Master's Degree in English or a Master's Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in a qualifying field, such as Creative Writing, English Grammar, Linguistics, Classics, Technical Writing, Applied Linguistics, Literature, Rhetoric and Composition, Comparative Literature, or Technical Communication. A Ph.D. in English or a qualifying field is preferred, and previous post-secondary teaching experience is highly desirable.

- Ph.D. in English or a qualifying field
- Previous post-secondary teaching experience
- Experience with curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment
- Knowledge of learner-centered and high-impact instructional methods
- Skills in computer operation, multimedia classroom instructional software, and a willingness to learn new technologies
