They are currently seeking an experienced Azure DevOps System Engineer with deep expertise in Bicep and Terraform to design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions that drive automation, security, and performance.

Position Overview

As a Remote Azure DevOps System Engineer, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and automating infrastructure across Azure environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Bicep and Terraform. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional engineering and operations teams to ensure that infrastructure deployments are scalable, resilient, and aligned with best practices in DevOps and cloud governance.

This is a fully remote position offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the U.S. while contributing to large-scale Azure cloud transformation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and manage Azure infrastructure using Bicep and Terraform templates.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for infrastructure and application deployment.
  • Collaborate with developers, cloud architects, and system administrators to streamline operations.
  • Automate provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Manage resource groups, storage accounts, networking, and security configurations within Azure.
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of cloud infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot deployment issues and optimize system performance.
  • Support cloud governance, cost optimization, and compliance standards.
  • Participate in code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in system engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure roles.
  • Proven experience with Azure cloud services (compute, networking, storage, identity, etc.).
  • Strong proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Bicep and Terraform.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, including pipeline creation, YAML scripting, and Git-based workflows.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation scripting.
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD methodologies.
  • Understanding of security best practices in cloud deployments (RBAC, NSG, Key Vault).
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote team.

Preferred Skills

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert or Azure Administrator Associate.
  • Experience with ARM templates, Ansible, or other automation tools.
  • Knowledge of GitHub Actions and Azure Monitor / Log Analytics.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud or multi-cloud environments.
  • Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies.
