About the Role

As a Principal Specialist in Global Trade Compliance, you will be responsible for supporting the NP-NAM Global Trade team in managing the export and import activities of our business. This is a high-visibility role that requires a strong understanding of international trade regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR). You will work closely with internal customers, including program teams and stakeholders, to develop export and import strategies, prepare and submit license applications, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare export authorizations, including Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs), Manufacturing License Agreements (MLAs), and other export control documents
  • Develop and implement export and import strategies for international marketing, sales, support, offshore procurement, and manufacturing of defense and dual-use articles
  • Provide guidance on complex licensing strategies and program planning, ensuring compliance with ITAR and EAR regulations
  • Collaborate with internal customers to develop export and import approvals, ensuring timely and efficient export of technology, technical data, hardware, and services
  • Manage day-to-day execution of agreements and licenses, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
  • Monitor authorizations for changes and take corrective action as needed
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date trade compliance records, in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to learning and audit assessment programs, ensuring implementation and effectiveness of internal controls
  • Assist in identifying compliance concerns and implementing corrective actions to resolve problems
  • Support management in investigating and resolving compliance matters, audits, and investigations
  • Develop and deliver training on export and import compliance, as required
  • Act as a resource for entry-level export/import licensing personnel

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A University Degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience in global trade compliance, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years' experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Experience working in a regulated environment or industry, supporting licenses, agreements, compliance, transactional activities, and application of regulations (ITAR, EAR, or similar)

Preferred Qualifications

We're looking for candidates with:

  • Strong experience in the application of regulations (ITAR, EAR, Customs) in high-volume environments
  • Experience with Technical Assistance Agreement (TAA) and Manufacturing Licensing Agreement (MLA) preparation and administration
  • Knowledge of Export Control Reform (ECR) and familiarization with Jurisdiction Classification Assessments
  • Knowledge of SNAP-R, OCR, DECCS, and/or SAP/GTS systems
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills to meet deadlines and achieve desired results
  • Excellent customer relation and interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to collaborate with multiple business functions and internal customers for success
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver training
  • Willingness to take on challenges and accept stretch assignments
  • A sincere interest in the field of Export Import operations and its strategic impact on global success
  • Advanced Degrees, such as an MBA or Juris Doctor
