About the Role

As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. Our platform offers a range of opportunities, from day-to-day substitutes to long-term assignments, allowing you to gain hands-on teaching experience and build your professional portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, aligned with the school's curriculum and teaching methods
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with school staff, administrators, and parents
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your designated Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your teaching skills

Essential Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• A passion for education and putting students first

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience
• Special education or paraprofessional experience
• Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
