As a Pre-K Head Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that cater to the diverse needs of our children. We are offering a competitive salary ranging from $26.4 to $29.6 per hour, along with a $500 hiring bonus and a $500 retention bonus, highlighting our commitment to attracting and retaining top talent in early childhood education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor children at all times, ensuring their safety and intervening when necessary to prevent unsafe situations.
  • Design and implement a well-structured daily schedule that includes a variety of activities such as small and large group sessions, choice time, music, movement, and effective transitions.
  • Develop and execute lesson plans that are aligned with Head Start Performance Standards and tailored to promote the holistic development of each child.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with parents, community volunteers, and other staff members to enhance the program's effectiveness.
  • Observe, record, and report on children's behaviors to identify their strengths and areas for growth, participating in monthly staffings as appropriate.
  • Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment by sanitizing equipment and laundry, and managing supplies.
  • Respond sensitively to children's emotions and needs, adapting your teaching approach to meet individual requirements.
  • Participate in professional development activities, including meetings, trainings, and workshops, to stay updated on best practices in early childhood education.
  • Monitor and report any suspicions of child abuse, adhering to our center's policies and legal requirements.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • An Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with bilingual English/Spanish skills being highly desirable.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in internet navigation and email.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, making significant decisions and solving problems as needed.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a compassionate attitude and a deep understanding of child development principles.
  • A nurturing teaching approach that prioritizes the individual needs of each child.
  • The physical ability to monitor children closely, respond quickly to their needs, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Within 30 days of employment, you must become Pediatric CPR & First Aid Certified and obtain a current Food Handler's Card. A Physical Examination, Negative TB Assessment Screening (updated annually), and enrollment in the Child Care Division-Central Background Registry (renewed every five years) are also required.
