The primary responsibility of the Massage Therapy Instructor is to provide active and effective learning experiences for students in all applicable educational settings. Instructional Duties

• Instruct classes as assigned, utilizing a range of teaching methods and techniques to engage students and promote learning
• Prepare for classes by organizing and becoming familiar with student material, preparing lesson plans and course material as required
• Objectively assess students for academic performance, providing regular and constructive feedback to support their learning and development
• Effectively organize and present subject matter to students, utilizing instructional plans and approved student material
• Supplement approved student material as required, ensuring that students have access to a range of learning resources and support
• Ensure security of assessment tools and confidential documentation, maintaining the integrity of the learning process
• Effectively utilize and monitor the learning management systems, ensuring that students have access to a range of digital resources and support
• Ensure classes are conducted for the required length of time, providing students with a comprehensive and engaging learning experience

Student Interaction

• Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, promoting a positive and supportive atmosphere that encourages student engagement and participation
• Set the example and be the role model for professionalism and conduct, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and a passion for massage therapy
• Provide regular and constructive feedback, through approved channels, to students regarding academic performance, grades, professionalism, conduct, attendance, and other topics as necessary
• Proactively inform Program Director of any student attendance, academic, or behavioral concerns, supporting retention management and student success
• Appropriately maintain student records, grades, and attendance, ensuring accuracy and compliance with institutional policies and procedures
• Facilitate tutoring and makeup work as needed, ensuring and monitoring student participation and progress
• Refer students to the Program Director and/or Academic Dean if additional advising is necessary, supporting student success and well-being

Related Duties, Outside the Classroom

• Record keeping, scanning, and other administrative tasks, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and supporting institutional operations
• Stay informed of current standards related to instructional methodology, participating in ongoing faculty and professional development activities to enhance teaching practice and expertise
• Participate in and document ongoing faculty and professional development activities, including Continuing Education Units (CEUs) that may be required for certification or licensure
• Attend outside workshops and seminars to improve instructional and professional skills, staying current with industry developments and best practices
• Attend orientations, staff meetings, and faculty meetings as scheduled, contributing to institutional decision-making and supporting colleagues and students
• Assist with preparations for graduation ceremonies, celebrating student achievement and success
• Participate in student and campus activities as requested, supporting student engagement and campus life

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications:

• Possess 3 years' experience within the last 7 years as a licensed massage therapist
• Meet the requirements of the state Massage Board, holding a current and valid license to practice massage therapy
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to student satisfaction and success, with a passion for teaching and learning
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following preferred qualifications will be highly regarded:

• Experience in teaching or training, with a strong understanding of instructional methodology and adult learning principles
• A degree in massage therapy or a related field, with a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, and massage techniques
• Current certification in CPR/First Aid, with a commitment to maintaining certification and up-to-date knowledge and skills
