Job Summary: United Airlines Data Engineer

United Airlines is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Data Engineering team. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for driving data-driven insights and innovation to enable the Data Engineering and AI needs for business and functional enterprises with a digital focus. This role will work closely with colleagues, data scientists, and ML engineers to design and enable key subsystems of the Data Platform, enhance operational critical metrics, and establish processes and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with development teams and other division leaders/partners to provide innovative technical solutions that enable business functions.
• Participate and lead in the design and development of creative batch and streaming data applications using AWS technologies.
• Support large-scale data pipelines in a distributed and scalable environment.
• Enable and advance the production AWS environment for data infrastructure and systems.
• Set up containers and Serverless platforms with cloud infrastructure.
• Provide the team with technical guidance and approach to be adopted and guide them in resolving questions/issues.

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of professional experience in managing infrastructure and data pipelines using Cloud Development, Terraform, PySpark, Windstream, or similar technologies.
• 5+ years of experience with leading a team that designs, architects, or supports solutions on AWS.
• Working knowledge of common AWS technologies - EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, Glue, SNS, and others.
• General awareness of other AWS technologies.
• Working knowledge with CI/CD tools, SQL, Python, Spark, Form control framework, JIRA.
• Hands-on experience with any object-oriented programming language.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions.
• Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with containerization using Docker.
