Position Summary:
As a Social Worker with AFA, you will play a vital role in providing supportive feedback and resources to individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Working remotely, you will utilize phone calls, emails, and chats to offer counseling, educational information, and resource referrals to those in need. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others while working in a flexible, part-time capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide counseling, educational information, and resource referrals to clients via phone calls, emails, chats, and virtual conversations.
- Link callers and their families to appropriate services and programs.
- Assess and address safety and/or risk concerns, developing safety and intervention plans as needed.
- Facilitate support groups for those affected by dementia, either via phone or Zoom.
- Participate in educational offerings, such as providing webinars and facilitating group forums on topics related to dementia.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by the Director of Educational and Social Services.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work or a related field (Psychology, Counseling, Mental Health, or Gerontology).
- New York State licensure as a social worker.
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience with the elderly population, caregivers, and health professionals in the field of dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong follow-up skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office and email correspondence.
- Availability to work on evenings and weekends, with a flexible work schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient language skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or another language.
