Key Responsibilities: Empowering the Next Generation of SREs

  • Deliver Engaging Live Sessions: Teach various topics in our SRE program, sharing your expertise and experience with our students.
  • Continuously Improve Session Delivery: Collaborate with fellow instructors and subject matter experts to refine the session flow and content, ensuring the best possible learning experience.
  • Master System Design Fundamentals and Coding Topics: Stay up-to-date on the latest developments in System Design and coding topics relevant to SRE interviews, and share your knowledge with our students.
  • Onboard and Train Instructors and Coaches: Help us maintain a high level of instructional quality by guiding new instructors and coaches.
  • Contribute to Curriculum Development: Engage in regular discussions with our curriculum team to evolve and enhance our SRE curriculum, ensuring it remains relevant and effective.

Essential Qualifications: The Ideal SRE Mentor

To excel as a part-time SRE Mentor at IK, you'll need:

  • Site Reliability Engineering Experience: A strong background in SRE, with a deep understanding of the principles and practices that drive reliable, scalable systems.
  • Unix/Linux Operating Systems Internals: Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems internals, including filesystems, system calls, and networking (e.g., routing, ESDN) or cloud systems.
  • Analytical and Troubleshooting Skills: Proven experience analyzing and troubleshooting complex systems, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Large-Scale Distributed Systems Design: Experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Participation in Interview Panels and Hiring Committees: A history of participating in interview panels and hiring committees, with a deep understanding of what makes a successful candidate.

Preferred Tools and Expertise: Enhancing Your SRE Mentorship
