Position Summary: The Catholic Community at Stanford (CC@S), a diverse Catholic University Parish serving the spiritual needs of Catholics on Stanford’s campus, is seeking a Part-Time (10-15 hours/week) Sacristan and Liturgical Volunteer Coordinator. This is an hourly position, with compensation commensurate with experience and diocesan guidelines. The role requires a practicing Catholic with liturgical knowledge and experience. The position is structured for a self-starter who is comfortable working remotely due to limited on-campus office space. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Sacristan Duties: To inventory and Care for Liturgical Supplies of the Catholic Community. Working with the staff to order supplies when needed. To set up for Sunday Masses – The Catholic Community worships in Stanford Memorial Church. For each Mass, the sanctuary has to be set up for Catholic Mass and returned to its normal set up after each Celebration. The sacristan will take primary responsibility for that set up and take down at 2 of the Sunday Masses and will coordinate volunteers to do so for the 3 rd Sunday Mass Liturgical Minister Coordination: Work with parish volunteers to recruit, schedule, and train liturgical ministers (e.g., lectors, communion ministers, altar servers, and greeters) in collaboration with the pastoral team. Maintain volunteer lists Communicate with volunteer ministers regarding liturgical assignments Education & Experience: Practicing Catholic with a deep understanding and love for Catholic liturgy Experience as a liturgical ministry volunteer. Strong organizational and communication skills. Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable. Availability to work weekends, Holy Days, and occasional evenings. Additional Requirements: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Comfortable working remotely due to limited office space at CC@S. Compensation: Hourly wage based on qualifications and experience, in line with diocesan compensation guidelines. Compensation includes time for rehearsals, preparation, and participation in liturgical services. Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Professional and courteous interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail and organization. Proficiency in using office equipment (phones, copiers, printers). Basic computer skills (Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, and Outlook), email, calendar systems). Ability to multitask and handle interruptions. Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality. Spanish proficiency is desired but not required. Physical Demands: Setting up for liturgies in Memorial Church requires the movement and placement of furniture (altar table, presiders chair). Typical Working Conditions: Work performed at Stanford Memorial Church on Sundays and Holy Days. Office work will be performed remotely Attendance at Weekly Staff Meetings in desirable. Work Schedule: Presence for Sunday Liturgies is essential. Schedule may vary occasionally depending on parish needs, events, or special liturgical seasons. Additional hours may be required with advance notice. Other Requirements: Others that may be assigned by management Compensation: $25.00–$30.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience Hours: Up to 20 hours per week.
