We're now seeking an experienced and passionate Public Speaking and Communication Instructor to join our team as an Adjunct Faculty member.

About the Role:

As a Public Speaking and Communication Instructor, you'll play a vital role in shaping the next generation of leaders and communicators. You'll be responsible for teaching General Education courses that focus on developing students' public speaking, communication, and critical thinking skills. Our ideal candidate is someone who is not only knowledgeable in their subject area but also passionate about creating an engaging and interactive learning environment that encourages students to grow and thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality instruction that meets course objectives and program requirements
  • Create an organized, disciplined, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning
  • Impart relevant workplace skills and knowledge to students, preparing them for success in their chosen careers
  • Assess student learning and progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant data
  • Participate in curriculum development, course planning, and other faculty activities as needed
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student success

Essential Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you'll need to meet the following essential qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in Communication, Public Speaking, or a related field
  • A minimum of two years of experience in teaching or instructing in a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 15 semester credit hours or 23 quarter credit hours in a related subject area that supports the General Education curriculum content
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to create a positive and effective learning environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Experience teaching adult learners or in higher education
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in public speaking and communication instruction
  • Experience with curriculum development and course planning
  • Familiarity with Platt College's mission, values, and culture
