Job Description
We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) who is passionate about working with children and families in a dynamic, supportive environment.
This position is specifically for evening hours (4:00–6:00 PM, with the option to work later if desired).
- Mondays and Thursdays are required.
- Additional weekday evenings are optional and flexible.
- Opportunities for Saturdays are available for those who are interested.
- This role can be structured as hourly or salaried, depending on the number of days worked.
- For the right candidate, this position can grow into a full-time role by January 2026 if desired.
The ideal candidate will bring creativity, energy, and enthusiasm to their sessions, using play-based & neurodiversity affirming approaches that foster curiosity and help children achieve their milestones.
Responsibilities
- Implement treatment goals and interventions as directed by the OT
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based therapy to support independence and growth
- Collaborate with OTs and other disciplines on shared cases
- Document treatment sessions and progress reports accurately and on time
- Communicate progress toward goals with the supervising OT and families
- Prepare and sanitize treatment spaces and equipment
- Engage in ongoing learning and professional growth
Qualifications
- Current Rhode Island COTA licensure
- Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited OTA program
- Pediatric therapy experience preferred
- Knowledgeable in sensory integration and evidence-based practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Organized, dependable, and able to work independently
- CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Conditions of Employment
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Subject to background check
- Maintain valid Rhode Island COTA licensure and malpractice insurance
- Comply with all applicable pediatric therapy regulations and policies
Hours & Compensation
- Evening hours: 4:00–6:00 PM (option to stay later until 7:00 if desired)
- Mondays and Thursdays required; additional days flexible
- Opportunities for Saturdays available
- Hourly or salary structure depending on schedule
- Potential for full-time hours by January
