About the Role
As a Customer Service Professional at blithequark's OSGLI Customer Service Center, you will be the primary point of contact for service members, veterans, and their families, providing them with accurate and timely information about their life insurance benefits. You'll work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, handling a high volume of customer inquiries via phone, email, and other channels. Your exceptional communication skills, empathy, and problem-solving abilities will enable you to resolve customer complaints and concerns efficiently, while promoting blithequark's products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, evaluate, and respond to customer inquiries, using computerized systems to track, gather information, and provide referrals or routine transactions.
- Assess customer needs and suggest alternative products or services, promoting blithequark's life insurance offerings.
- Handle most customer calls and transactions independently, escalating complex issues to senior representatives or specialized teams as needed.
- Document and investigate customer complaints, resolving issues promptly and fairly.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of blithequark's life insurance products, policies, and procedures, staying up-to-date on industry developments and regulatory changes.
- Provide clear, concise, and accurate information to customers, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate a customer-centric approach, empathizing with customers and delivering personalized support.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives.
Essential Qualifications
- 1-3 years of directly related customer service experience, preferably in a financial services or insurance industry setting.
- Well-developed transaction processing experience, with a strong understanding of customer service principles and practices.
- College degree or equivalent business/military experience preferred.
- Strong people skills, with an ability to think like the customer and deliver top-quality service.
- Proven record of dependability, punctuality, and reliability, with a strong attendance record.
- Ability to learn and retain a significant amount of technical information in a relatively short period.
- Receptivity to detailed performance feedback and a willingness to continuously improve.
- Proficiency with keyboard and window-based applications, including internet navigation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with active listening abilities.
- Ability to excel in a team environment, as well as work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a fast-paced, inbound customer service center environment.
- Familiarity with life insurance products and policies, particularly those related to service members and veterans.
- Knowledge of blithequark's products and services, or a willingness to learn.
- Previous experience working with a computerized customer relationship management (CRM) system.
