As a Remote Director, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing live remote game broadcasts, working closely with school and college sports production offices, producers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality broadcasts that captivate audiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to schools on all aspects of TV production, leveraging your extensive experience in the truck, from AP and AD roles to producer and director responsibilities.
• Liaise with school production partners to provide timely feedback on student-produced content, fostering growth and development.
• Visit school production partner grounds to assess hardware needs, discuss industry-standard production methods, and provide coaching and guidance to school administrative staff.
• Design, coordinate, and execute live productions of live, remote games, accurately reporting assigned events.
• Make on-the-spot decisions regarding picture and sound transmission; interpret data and information to choose shots, elements, and sequences.
• Collaborate with producers and activities teams to determine camera placement at each scene; design and execute the capture of desired shots, live-to-tape builds, and sequences of shots.
• Work with engineering specialists to coordinate all elements in a broadcast, including graphics, enhanced technology elements, switcher effects, and composite music.
• Coordinate technical teams and consultants assigned to remote events; conduct production and technical meetings to define team responsibilities and expectations.
• Provide post-event feedback and constructive criticism to the Event Tasks group and Running division on assigned team members.
• Conduct research on teams, players, storylines, trends, and more to stay informed on each game/sport assigned.
• Guide live talent before broadcasts and assist them during broadcasts as needed.
• Make on-the-spot editorial changes to coverage plans as unexpected circumstances and opportunities arise.
• Troubleshoot, on-the-spot, operational issues that arise during assigned live remote games.
• Ensure that all ads and promotions for assigned productions are accurately inserted.
• Participate in the development of concepts and content for assigned games to reach viewers and increase market penetration and viewership.
• For assigned live remote games, interface with and communicate as needed with conferences, associations, school/college staff, coaches, players, and more.
• Maintain ongoing communications with third-party resources, such as talent, production companies, to secure required services, hardware, and components for assigned live remote games.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 2+ years of increasingly complex related live game coordinating experience.
• Knowledge of real-time live game coordinating processes.
• The ability to clearly and concisely communicate to all team members during live broadcasts.
• Familiarity with the technical equipment associated with coordinating live remote games.
• Top-notch live remote game coordinating skills.
• A valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following skills and experience will give you a competitive edge:

• Understanding of the financial implications of coordinating live remote games.
• Enthusiasm for popular culture, including "what's cool" and helping to define the preferences of ESPN's viewers.
• Comprehension of the market positioning and strategies of assigned games.
• Willingness to travel as required.
