As a Senior Quality Engineer on our Card Payment Device Services team, you'll play a critical role in architecting, coding, and delivering software that makes us a vital part of our customers' digital lives. You'll work alongside talented engineers in open, supportive, inclusive environments where your voice is valued, and you make your own choices on what tech to apply to solve complex problems. The Card Payment Device Services team specializes in the personalization and issuance of proprietary EMV Dual interface cards in plastic and metallic form elements to Amex's global customers. If you have a background that combines business and technical expertise and experience in the card billing industry, you'll be well-equipped to succeed and apply your knowledge in this role.Key Responsibilities:
- Actively participate with an Agile team of 6-8 software engineers.
- Perform generation partner EMV card personalization stage validation/testing for assigned tasks to ensure data layout accuracy according to applicable specs and defined scope during the certification process.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and solve fairly complex processing, software usage, or business issues.
- Escalate chip card issues to inner Systems Architect, Product Development, Product Management, and/or Operations groups and manage issue resolution.
- Perform research to investigate and solve EMV card personalization issues in both test and manufacturing environments.
- Present new technology, business trends, or passion projects to teammates and wider organization; share learnings and insights.
- Play an active role in hiring and mentoring other engineers.
Essential Qualifications:
- BS or MS in Computer Science (or equivalent).
- Good expertise in EMV smart card industry, certification, and implementation procedures or experience as an integration specialist, developer, or certification role within the payment industry.
- Experience with EMV card test tools like Barnes, OPV.
- Experience with at least one programming language. Java is a plus.
- Proven experience in project and application management in fairly complex, matrix, and geographically dispersed environments.
- Ability to prioritize work across multiple, concurrent tasks.
- Strong communications skills.
- Conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS in Computer Science (or equivalent).
- Experience with multiple programming languages.
- Experience with cloud-based technologies.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
