About the Role
As a General Merchandise Coach (Complex) at Walmart, you will be responsible for leading and developing teams, driving sales growth, and ensuring operational excellence in a complex retail environment. You will work closely with store associates, management, and other stakeholders to achieve business objectives, implement company initiatives, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Team Development: Leads and develops high-performing teams by teaching, training, and actively listening to associates; providing feedback and coaching to improve performance; and communicating effectively with all levels of associates.
- Customer Service Excellence: Models and demonstrates exceptional customer service standards by following and demonstrating the One Best Way (OBW) service model; managing and supporting customer service initiatives; and ensuring customer needs are successfully resolved.
- Business Performance: Drives financial performance and sales growth by reviewing and evaluating P&L statements; managing and assisting in budgeting, forecasting, and controlling expenses; and developing action plans to mitigate shrink and ensure sales and profit goals are achieved.
- Talent Acquisition and Development: Provides supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates by hiring, training, and mentoring; assigning duties; setting clear expectations; and providing associate recognition.
- Operational Excellence: Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures; supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity; and implements related action plans to drive business results.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- 2 years' of college; OR
- 1 year's retail experience and 1 year's supervisory experience; OR
- 2 years' general work experience and 1 year's supervisory experience.
Additionally, you must be willing to complete firearms-specific training and background checks, if required, and attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered a plus:
- Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University.
- Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University.
- General work experience supervising 5 or more direct reports, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.
