Key Responsibilities
- Teach English and Read 180 to students in grades 7/8, fostering a love for learning and promoting academic excellence.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning needs, ensuring that all students make progress.
- Utilize Read 180, a comprehensive reading intervention program, to support students who are below grade level in reading.
- Assess student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum, share best practices, and drive student success.
- Participate in leadership development opportunities, such as curriculum facilitator and teacher facilitator roles, to grow professionally and contribute to the district's growth.
- Engage with the local community, fostering strong relationships with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to support student well-being.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Possess a valid Connecticut State Certification in English Language Arts (015 ELA 7-12) or be willing to obtain one.
- Hold a relevant degree and have a minimum number of years of teaching experience, as per the district's salary schedule.
- Demonstrate a passion for teaching and a commitment to student-centered learning.
- Show evidence of successful teaching practices, with a track record of improving student outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications will be considered advantageous:
- Experience teaching English and Read 180 to students in grades 7/8.
- Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation, with the ability to develop engaging lesson plans.
- Strong assessment and data analysis skills, with the ability to inform instruction.

Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $48,708 - $101,297 per year, contingent on degree and years of experience. Additional benefits include:
