About the Role
As a Program Specialist - Alternative Education, you will play a critical role in providing leadership, staff development, and training to ensure the success of our alternative education programs. You will work closely with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to develop and implement effective programs that promote academic achievement, attendance, behavior, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide leadership and support to school personnel responsible for staff development activities
* Assist in the implementation of academic standards and expectations for student performance
* Develop and coordinate programs and resources to meet the diverse needs of students
* Foster a positive school climate by promoting cooperation, respect, and personal responsibility among students
* Conduct professional development training in areas of assigned responsibility
* Perform other duties as assigned
Some of the specific responsibilities include:
* Advising and supporting school personnel on staff development activities
* Assisting in the development of effective programs and coordination of resources for students
* Identifying and responding to issues, concerns, and needs of students, parents, and staff
* Communicating effectively in a wide variety of settings, often requiring a unique sensitivity to others and a persuasive ability to achieve results
* Directing and preparing mandated reports, complex records, and correspondence
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must possess:
* A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in education or a related field (Doctorate degree desired)
* Valid California Credential in the area of expertise
* At least three-five years of teaching and/or coaching experience
* A private vehicle, valid California driver's license, and current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage
* Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in alternative education settings
* Strong knowledge of educational laws, regulations, and policies
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including students, parents, and staff

Compensation and Benefits
This role offers a competitive salary range of $100,400 - $121,430 per year, depending on experience. Additional benefits include:
