Our Product Design and Research team is at the forefront of this mission, crafting experiences that delight customers and empower them to keep their pets happy and healthy. We're a team of hard-working, collaborative, and fun-loving designers, program managers, researchers, and builders who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of pets and their owners. If you're a creative and driven Senior UX Program Manager looking to join a dynamic team and drive success in design operations, we want to hear from you!

About the Role

We're seeking a Senior UX Program Manager to join our Design Operations team at Chewy. This role will support our Core Product Design & Research team, focusing on our Design System, organization-wide process improvement, and design operations support. You'll partner directly with UX Senior Leadership to establish design best practices, system and tool governance, and lead the administrative complexity for the team, allowing researchers and designers to focus on solving customer problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Associate Director for Design Foundations to define an intake, planning, and roadmap process for the Design System.
  • Collaborate with Product Designers to plan, document, and report on progress, ensuring seamless execution and delivery.
  • Drive optimization of our scrum-of-scrums design process and reporting mechanism, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.
  • Work closely with cross-functional partners (e.g., UX design, product managers, engineers) to understand their needs and provide them with the right UX partner, mechanism, or support model.
  • Provide day-to-day operations and planning support for the UX Teams, including management of intake, sprints, backlog, retrospectives, and partnering with Directors on prioritization.
  • Facilitate meetings with the team, leaders, and collaborators, ensuring clear next steps and owners are assigned, and resolving conflicts as they arise.
  • Proactively identify risks and develop mitigation plans to minimize project impact, adapting our strategy as needed.
  • Own contracts and administrative governance for 2+ UX tools, including budgeting, contract renewals, and usage documentation or trainings for the team.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • 5+ years of experience as a program or project manager, specifically with a focus on UX or UX Research.
  • 3+ years of experience leading project delivery for large, cross-functional project teams.
  • Previous experience working directly with UX teams, understanding their needs and challenges.
  • Experience raising issues, making trade-off decisions, balancing constraints, and communicating risk to stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of UX research, design, and common design processes.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team and working directly with designers, product managers, and engineers.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
  • Experience with forecasting and budgeting, ensuring effective resource allocation.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and the Atlassian suite of products (Jira expertise highly preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are a plus:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and presentations.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience, demonstrating a strong foundation in design principles and practices.
  • A strong process improvement background and experience owning the operations of creative programs, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of user experience measurement and setting critical metrics, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
