About the position

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers in friendly conversation while making eye contact and smiling; proactively offer additional assistance and thank customers for shopping at Wegmans.
  • Efficiently and accurately scan items and process payments when on register.
  • Properly bag items to ensure products arrive at their destination in the condition they left the store.
  • Manage traffic flow in the self-checkout area, directing customers to available lanes and ensuring the lanes are in good working order.
  • Assist customers with system troubleshooting in the self-checkout area.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked workspace.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service skills and a friendly demeanor.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
  • Good communication skills to engage with customers effectively.
  • Basic math skills for processing payments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a retail or customer service environment.
  • Familiarity with cash handling and point-of-sale systems.
