**Overview of the Role**
As a REMOTE 988 Crisis Chat and Text Counselor, you will play a vital role in connecting with individuals experiencing emotional distress or mental health issues. Working from the comfort of your own home, you will maintain HIPAA compliance and focus, requiring a private office space. Your responsibilities will include:
* Speaking with consumers over the phone to build rapport and client engagement
* Assessing and mitigating risk while managing documentation during calls
* Providing available resources or information needed to support individuals in crisis
* Identifying safe, positive ways of coping and/or developing a safety plan
* Participating in emergency interventions as needed
* Remaining calm and professional while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals experiencing emotional distress or mental health issues
* Build rapport and establish trust with clients through active listening and empathetic communication
* Assess and manage risk while documenting interactions with clients
* Provide resources and information to support clients in crisis
* Develop and implement safety plans to ensure client well-being
* Participate in emergency interventions as needed
* Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality in all interactions with clients
**Essential Qualifications:**
* Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year accredited college or university
* 1 year of experience in 988 chat and text or a related field
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
* Proficiency in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
* Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements
* Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team
**Preferred Qualifications:**
* Master's Degree in a related field (e.g., counseling, social work, psychology)
* Experience working with diverse populations and in crisis intervention settings
* Certification in crisis intervention or a related field (e.g., QPR, ASIST)
* Bilingual or multilingual skills
