Key Responsibilities: Driving Academic Success through Innovative Support Services

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for academic success and support services, including tutoring, academic coaching, and mentorship programs, under the direction of the Dean of Academic and Student Development.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of tutoring and academic support services, including managing multiple locations (Lynn, Danvers, and virtual), programs, and staff.
  • Create and implement a Peer Mentorship Program and an Academic Coaching Program, obtaining CRLA International Peer Educator Training Program Certification.
  • Develop and lead a Supplemental Instruction Program (SI) to embed SI leaders in high DFW courses, promoting student success and academic achievement.
  • Centralize and coordinate college-wide tutoring efforts, including TRIO, SUCCESS Fund Initiatives, and STEM programs.
  • Manage the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of Coordinators, Professional Tutors, Peer Tutors, and other academic success personnel.
  • Provide training and regular professional development for tutors, ensuring high-quality support services for both on-site and remote learners.
  • Collaborate with divisional Academic Deans to promote tutoring and academic support services effectiveness for various classes, especially DFW courses.
  • Oversee the College's CRLA tutor training program, including coordination of CRLA training sessions and maintenance of records for students completing CRLA training and certification.
  • Assess students' academic progress and success, reporting results and informing data-driven decision-making.

Requirements: Qualifications and Skills for Success

To excel as the Director of Academic Success, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in Education, English, or a relevant field; EdD or PhD preferred.
  • Two years of full-time experience tutoring and/or teaching, or an equivalent combination of experience.
  • Previous experience in Tutoring/Learning Center/Learning Commons management.
  • Knowledge of CRLA certification process, regulations, and tutor training.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across campus and foster positive collaborative community partnerships.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with established ability to work with and advocate for traditionally underserved students.
  • Competence in leadership, planning, assessment, and budgeting.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products, Banner software, and Navigate experience (a plus).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).
