Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director of CETL to design, develop, and implement high-level teaching initiatives and faculty services that drive CETL programming.
  • Assist in managing grants support, coordinating the Online Course Development Program (OCDP), and building a peer coaching network to support faculty development.
  • Help plan, design, and deliver CETL's faculty development workshops and programs, including New Faculty Orientation, and support the preparation of courses for campus quality course design reviews.
  • Provide faculty support and advocate for the adoption of inclusive pedagogical strategies that promote diverse students' success across different instructional modalities.
  • Stay current with higher education trends and research, synthesizing this knowledge into innovative professional development opportunities for faculty.
  • Work with faculty, departments, and colleges to meet their pedagogical needs, scaling campus online/hybrid courses and programs while ensuring compliance with campus and CSU policies, accessibility regulations, and accreditation standards.

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited college, school, or university.
  • Five years of experience teaching in a post-secondary college setting, preferably at an HSI serving diverse students.
  • Demonstrated experience designing online courses using Canvas or other Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Verified background and achievements in a discipline within the university that would qualify the candidate as a tenured faculty member.
  • Dedicated commitment to culturally relevant and inclusive pedagogy that serves first-generation students.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Interest or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong record of teaching and scholarship that would merit tenure in a department at Cal State LA.
  • Project management experience.
  • Leadership experience or experience managing people.
  • Demonstrated expertise as a college teacher.
  • Knowledge of course alignment using program assessment for quality control, such as Quality Matters.
  • Experience designing educational development for faculty (peer learning).
  • Familiarity with the growing field of educational development and the learning sciences (e.g., UDL, instructional design models, the effects of technology on learning).
