Our Team's Focus

Key Responsibilities

• Develop central assets and tooling for identifying, measuring, or mitigating potential harms caused by generative AI systems.
• Collaborate with Microsoft product groups who wish to be proactive about responsible AI, and contribute to or potentially drive research projects aimed at advancing the state-of-the-art.
• Be a member of an interdisciplinary team of world specialists on the fairness of AI systems, working with partners from diverse backgrounds.
• Screen research advances and draw on them to shape your applied science work.
• Present your work to internal and external stakeholders, including Microsoft leadership.

Essential Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field AND 4+ years of related experience (e.g., statistical predictive analysis, research).
• OR: Master's degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field AND 3+ years of related experience.
• OR: Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field AND 1+ year of related experience.

Skills and Competencies

• Experience working with large-scale language models and/or multimodal models.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in a general-purpose coding language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala, C#, or C/C++).
