Job Overview

As a Part-Time Home Ownership Officer, you will be responsible for processing applications related to the Right to Buy scheme, managing leasehold services, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. You will work closely with our team to provide exceptional customer service, maintain high standards of probity, and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Right to Buy applications in accordance with Part V of the Housing Act 1985, ensuring legislative time limits are met.
  • Handle all aspects of leasehold management, including LPE1 enquiries, completion statements, subletting requests, and service charge calculations.
  • Assist with the production and raising of Annual Service Charges, ensuring accurate recharge allocation to properties for Major Works programmes.
  • Comply with Section 20 legislation under the Leasehold Reform Act 2002 and maintain high standards of probity and good conduct.
  • Carry out administrative tasks related to Home Ownership and Property Management services.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to our residents, responding to queries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to drive continuous improvement and ensure the Council meets its statutory obligations.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Relevant work experience in property services, housing, or a related field.
  • A good understanding of the Right to Buy scheme and leasehold management principles.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office and property management systems.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

To stand out as a candidate, you may have:

  • A qualification in a relevant field, such as property management or housing studies.
  • Experience working in local government or a similar environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Housing Act 1985 and Leasehold Reform Act 2002.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting, including the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and resolve complex issues.
